Given Circumstances: Another perspective on the coronavirus quarantine.

What if we allowed ourselves this time without panic, without stress, but with cautious observation and sound self-care?

Think for a moment about how many of the diseases we face in society are stress-related; rather than changing our habits, we medicate so that we can continue to keep up with the grind.

What if by reducing the stress of society, by quieting the landscape of the world and breathing in the fresh clean air of the unpolluted outdoors, people suddenly realize they don’t need certain medications because they are not exposed to the same toxins and the stressful pace of life? They can focus on all they have and are grateful for.

Perhaps we are in a colossal healing experience for all the world. As we learn the valuable lesson of sitting with discomfort, without escape (no bars, no coffee shops, no shopping, etc.), we are given an opportunity for inward reflection. At the same time, pollution reverses, health for many improves, mental clarity and compassion for others expand, greed dissipates, and empathy grows.

What if this is the world correction we have needed to soothe our souls, heal our bodies and our planet, and clarify priorities?

Yes, sadly there will be a significant loss of life but it will not be in vain if we change the ways of the world and take care of each other. This is an opportunity for incredible personal growth and expansion - embrace it fully.

Hopefully, this experience will help people realize they are not their jobs, they are not how much money is in their bank account. It is our connection to one another and our compassion for each other that makes us human. We are all part of a finely tuned web, intricately connected and dependent upon one another. Every fiber and every strand matter.

Every person matters.

Check-in on your friends, family, and neighbors. Donate what you can to help the homeless. Avoid unnecessary hoarding of supplies so they are available for the masses. Remember the people in your life who have lost work and are scrambling to figure out what to do. Hug your loved ones and spend time connecting.

Peace, Love, and Light,
Heather Swallow

  1. Hi Heather! Thank you for this! I feel connected with you now from Wexford, Ireland and it brings back all the healing experiences I had with you when I lived in Oakland. This will help a lot of people, myself included. xx
